What staff services does a Bridal Package include?
If you decide to go with a full-service bridal package, we provide you with a wedding consultant throughout the planning process, an event hostess who is present throughout your whole event, and the necessary amount of staff for catering, including setup specialists, servers, and dishwashers.
What will the Event Consultant help me with?
The event consultant is available for you to help plan your wedding or event at The Canterbury Place. When you have chosen a full-service bridal package, your time with the consultant is unlimited. However, appointments are necessary. If you have chosen to only rent the facility, the consultant is available for a one hour consultation. If you are requiring extra time with them, you may purchase it at $75.00 per hour. The consultant is the Canterbury representative to help coordinate things like vendors (cake, florals, etc.), catering, décor, schedules and timelines, rehearsals, and to help keep your planning process on track. Consultants have experience in the industry, and have relationships with lots of vendors throughout the Salt Lake area. If you need any advice or have any questions about your wedding, outside vendors, or Canterbury in general, make sure to ask your consultant.
What will the Event Hostess help me with?
You will have an event hostess provided for you, no matter how you decide to rent The Canterbury Place, in a package or a facility rental. Event hostesses are provided to you so there is a Canterbury representative at your event at all times. They are in charge of making sure your event runs smoothly, including supervising your serving staff, monitoring the audio visual equipment, keeping you on your estimated timeline, coordinating setup changes, making announcements (if requested), and being available for questions and requests made by you or your guests. Because of the many responsibilities of a hostess, and so she will always be available as much as possible, there are some things they cannot be responsible for. Some of these include watching children, acting as a security guard, acting as the DJ, serving/clearing plates (when bringing in your own catering), etc. Although the hostess is more than willing to help with these things if needed, their other responsibilities come first. If you have any further questions about what a hostess can do for you, don’t hesitate to ask your consultant.
Do you provide security for my event?
We do not have a security staff on the premises for your event. However, you can choose to pay for one if you feel your party may get out of hand, especially since you are responsible for any damage done during your event. If you choose not to have a police officer on premises, the hostess reserves the right to call one in, if she feels the party is getting out of control, any illegal activity occurs, drinking outside the bar policies or in the parking lot, etc. You will be charged for the police officer’s time.
Do you have an inclement weather space for outdoor weddings?
When you reserve the outdoor area for any type of event, we always reserve one room indoor to be an inclement weather space. You can decide to change to indoor at any time up until the wedding, but our staff reserves the right on the morning of, to change the setup depending on the weather conditions.
Can we bring in our own décor, and what is acceptable?
You may bring in your own décor, and use any of ours. We allow most decorations, but nothing can be taped, tacked, or hung on walls. If you have any question about what we may or may not allow, please talk to your consultant.

Who sets up and takes down my wedding?
We have an event setup specialist who sets up your tables, chairs, linens, and any other décor we are providing for you, like centerpieces and chair covers. If you are using our vendors, they come in and set everything up for you including the cake, florals, and even your cake knife, server, guest book, pen, etc. We are more than happy to also help set up pictures or place cards you bring in at an earlier time. Our caterers set up your buffet and your food if we are providing your catering. If you are just renting the facility, we set up the tables, chairs, linens, and centerpieces and you are responsible for any other décor you would like set up.
Can we remove or rearrange furniture?
You may rearrange furniture how you’d like, however you are responsible for putting it back in the original place at the end of the event. We cannot remove furniture from the rooms.
Can we use the outdoor area for taking pictures?
The outdoor area is a great place for your wedding pictures. You are always welcome to take any pictures outside during your wedding.
What should I bring to my wedding if I am doing a Bridal Package?
Since we provide most of what you will need in our full-service packages, you really only need to bring your dress and formalwear, and your pictures. If you took anything out of the package, make sure to bring that as well. Otherwise, we will have all of your wedding items here at Canterbury the day of your wedding.
What should I bring to my wedding if I am doing a Facility Rental?
If you are renting the facility, you are responsible for coordinating your own vendors, and wedding items.
If I am not doing a full-service package, what am I responsible for at my wedding?
If you are renting the facility only, we do not provide all the services as a full-service package. You are responsible for cutting your own cake and renting dishes for it, even if we are doing your catering. If you would like, we will cut the cake for you for a fee of $1.00 per person, capped at $100. You are also responsible for your vendors not arranged through us.
Do you provide music?
We have music available for your use, including generic background piano music, ceremony processional music, and love songs. If you would like any other music, you may arrange to bring your own.
Do you provide high chairs or booster seats?
We do not provide high chairs or booster seats. Remind your guests who have children that they will need to make arrangements.
What are your bar policies?
We allow alcohol on the premises under a few policies. If you would like a bar, we allow open bars only. We provide the bar, bartender and mixers (see bar prices), and you provide your own alcohol. Our bartender service will not serve from kegs or out of state liquor.
Can we use fireworks on the grounds?
You may use sparklers outside, but no other fireworks are allowed.
If I have changes, when is the latest I can make them?
10 days before your event, we finalize all arrangements. We need to make sure to have your final guest count and other final changes by this day. If you make any changes that require a price change after that cutoff date, you will be charged a 15% service fee to the additional charges. |
